July-August 2012
this month has being a nightmare, first a received a call saying i had missed Owen op for him to have his jejunostomy done, but i hadn't received a call or letter so how was i to know he was meant to have it done, then on the 2nd July, i received a call that Owen was at hospital the next day to have his jejunostomy operation, very short notice as i hadn't received a letter or herd when he was going to have it, so we went the next day to have it done, Owen was sick twice that morning due to the sedative they gave him, and also had a nose bleed Owen had a sedative and he fell asleep while they were doing the operation, which i got to stay in the room with Owen and hold his hand, it took around 45 minutes to be done and then Owen was transferred to the ward after Owen's op he was still very drowsy, he was drowsy for a few days after also, Owen took really well at first to his jej, and he was very happy all the time, 9th July things took a turn for the worst, Owen went downhill, he was borking as if he wanted to be sick, and he had a very high temperature, also hot sweats, he slept in my bed all night as he kept borking, i don't know why, and i knew the dietitian was coming the next morning so i though she may know, around 6 the next morning we were up and i was just cleaning Owen's mouth when i noticed there was something at the back of his throat, it looked like mucas at first, but i took a closer look, and to my surprise it was Owen's tube that was went to be in his bowls, so i had to ring for an ambulance.
we went straight to hospital as the ambulance men couldn't take it out, but it could have killed him even his surgeon told me he could have died from this. when we got to hospital his surgeon came straight to him, took it out and replaced it with a mick-ey button, (what he had be for his jej), Owen was unwell for a few days after, and he was going to have a jej put in again as that one had gone wrong, i wasn't sure if i should get it done to him again, but i was looking at the good point, of how well he had being for a few days and how well he seemed in himself, so i though another one couldn't go wrong, 30th July Owen went back in for his operation to have a jejunostomy fitted again, again i got to stay in the room, and Owen fell asleep during the operation again, it took longer this time, as they were looking more this time to make sure it was in the correct place, Owen was very tired afterwards and was for a few days again, he was very disoriented again, but not even a week later Owen had symptoms that he had befor that the tube may have come out, so it was straight back to the hospital, he had an x-ray to see if it had come out, but it had stayed in it's place, but the tube had turned funny in his tummy and was making is very sore and uncomfortable, so they said they would have to do it again, by this point i had enough so i asked can we just put the mick-ey button back in, i know it may seem worse as he is sick with it, but he is having his big operation in October to stop him from being sick, i would rather him be sick for a few months then leave him in pain and discomfort and always be worried that something could happen, we made it to my cousin's Summer party in the afternoon also, Owen was very tired so he had lots of cuddles and sleeps.
