December 2012
i had a lovely weekend away with m friends and my sister for her birthday, it's a little tradition we've made, every year we go away for the weekend, this year we stayed in a log cabbin with a hot tub near the sea, was a lovely time to relax and just have run with my friends, but i was very happy to pick owen up after and get to send time with him again, he made some lovely little things for the christmas tree at martin house, so we hung them on the tree when we got it up.
we also went to sunshine house's christmas party (sunshine house is the respite owen goes to in hull), it was a fantastic night, owen got to sit on santas knee and got a gift of santa, he loved the music and light and even had a dance with myself, some of the staff and santa on the dance floor, owen even somehow managed to pull santa's beard down, good job no children saw.
i had a girls night out which is a tradition with the girls in are family, my mum, sister auntie and cousin's make a night of it a few times during the year but also have a night out in December for Xmas, so had a really good night with the girls.
it's weird to think but the past few weeks it does seem that Owen has become a little more aware of things around him, it may just be me hoping for it so i'm seeing it or it may actually be happening.
Owen was quite ill when he went on his school trip, apparently he was being sick or falling asleep the whole time, so instead of going back to school after the trip they did a quick detour and popped Owen home, as he wasn't well, and his breathing was very shallow.
a huge merry Christmas to everyone and a happy new year
each year for Christmas we go to my dad's in the morning to see him and then we go to my mums for dinner and open presents, there's always someone falling asleep normally my brother after Christmas dinner, then on the evening we all go back to my dads and stay over at his house and open presents with him, i love spending Christmas with my family, it's always so christmassy, cozy and just lovely speeding time with the family, then there's about 4 family parties between boxing day and new years day.
but this year we did all that but we stayed over at my dads on christmas eve which owen liked.
owen was spoiled rotten again for Xmas, he also got a new pram, the occupational therapist wasn't happy when i told her about the pram but it is a specialist one which is a plus point, but we need one that easy tp put in the car and if we need to quickly pop out, but Owen loves it, we went for a walk in it and he loved it, and a bug congratulations to my sister and her boyfriend as they got engaged,

IMAGINE life with a disabled child by Amy goldsmith
imagine that you had flu like symptoms not a cold but the flu
Imagine if you were in constant pain everyday of your life
Imagine have muscle spasms constantly
Imagine having a headache constantly
Imagine being sick all the time and also sicking up blood
Imagine that you cannot walk or sit or even hold your head up
Imagine not being able to talk ( you'll never hear the word mummy )
Imagine having seizures without any warning
Imagine not being able to eat or drink
Imagine having to go through countless tests
Imagine having to go through countless operations
Imagine being told your child is disabled
Imagine being told your child is slowly dieing ( you can never come to terms that your child may not be here tomorrow )
Just imagine all of this and still that little person still has a smile on there face everyday, this little person has fought so hard with everything thatch being thrown at him.
that person lives with the pain as to them it's normal.
This is no life for a child.
Know imagine that's your child and there's nothing you can do to help, you can't take the pain away, you can't help except give them your care and attention and LOVE.
My son may be different, he may be disabled, but I love him no matter what.
