February 2013
well it wa the month for owen's operations to stop him from being sick.
well going for the pre-assessment wasn't a very good start but it did show the nurses a little into the problem we've being having, when we got to the pre assessment owen became extreamly drowsy, he was then sick and had one of is absent seizures, then went back to being very drowsy, he had a blood test then saw doctor then was sick yet again, wewent home, but i was a little anoyed that i told the doctors this wasnt his normal self, but they just said to go home,
that night we ended up having to go to goole hospital as owen was no better, he had another seizure infront of the doctor at goole hospital, the doctor said he thought it may be an infection or virus, (dont all doctors say that lol), he was given a perscription for amoxocillin whihc does work with owen very well,
owen did start getting back to his normal self a few days later, and he loved going for a walk through the park, and seeing the horses, he had a lovely sleepover with me at my dads and his uncle nicky (my brother) was there, so had some man time together lol.
because i dont have a boyfriend i gto to spend my valentines with my little sister as owen was in respite, so me and my sister had a girly night of pampering and watching movies.
it scared me alot thinking about the operation and it getting closer as owen has had alot of operation's but this operation is by far the biggest.
owen had his operation and it went okay, he was put on the high dependancy unit because of his breathing and heart rate, he was in alot of pain which was helped with paracetamol and morphine, he had 5 small incisions on his tummy.
Owens operation went ok, his surgeon found that Owens stomach was trying to get through an abnormal hole and forcing it's way up into his chest, his surgeon managed to stop that happening by stitching the hole back together, but accidentally cut some of his spleen, she stopped the spleen from bleeding and continued with the operation that went successfully, Owen was very ill for a few days and had to be monitored closely incase he needed a blood transfusion as he lost a lot of blood from his spleen, which he didn't need in the end, Owen had to have morphine and paracetamol for his pain, I was scared with the morphine as it was the first time him being on it, but thanks to the nurses in the high dependancy unit they were fantastic, Owen was later transferred up to the normal ward and again looked after some fantastic nurses, I cannot fault a single one that looked after Owen while being in hospital, he's home know, his tummy has 5 little bandages on it as he will have 5 little scars but that's nothing to the amazing difference he's being all ready with not being sick, and gagging, and he may even be able to start eating again after nearly 3 years of not eating due to him being sick and gagging all the time, so a lot of positives in my eyes
very proud of owen, since is operation he hasn't being sick, which is a massive achievement , he started trying to be sick felt so sorry for him as i knew nothing could come up, and it's proven that the operation was a complete success as nothing did come up
