December 2013
Owen had a little bit of an experience when he went to respite as usual for his weekly sleepover, but instead of having a sleepover at respite it ended up having a sleepover at the hospital.
owen's respite was flooded as was allot of Hull from the tidal surge, and owen's respite was also one of those building's, the water started coming in apparently so the fire brigade came to the rescue and took the children one by one over to the hospital, it apparently went up to waist height, so very thankful for the staff at owen's respite and the fire brigade that everyone was safe and well.
a few thing's of owen's did get lost and were never found, but i was just happy Owen was OK, i felt helpless as there was no way of getting to the hospital to collect Owen, so i had to wait until the next day to go and get him, owen's new wheelchair was a little wet, but was also saved yey, as for own he though it was hilarious being rescued and carried to the fire engine, apparently he was full of smiles the whole time.
had a lovely day out with the girl's Christmas shopping and Owen also enjoyed it, each year we all go somewhere different Christmas shopping and this year we went to meadow hall, mainly because myself and my cousin had out children, so it's inside, warm and dry, plus i had never being to meadow hall before.
owen's seen and met Santa alot this year which must mean he's being extra special, he's seen Santa, at a school fair, at his school and at respite's party, we had a fabulous time at the smile foundation party for sunshine house, it was all about the children which was fantastic, and Owen had a wonderful time, enjoying pass the parcel, dancing in his wheelchair, and getting lots of present's of Santa.
had a lovely girl's night out for Christmas, just went to a local with the girl's, had so much fun.
i got to see my godmother, who i don't get to see very often as she lives in Essex, so it was lovely to see her, and she hasn't seen Owen in person for a few year's so was really nice for her to spend some time with him.
a few day's before Christmas Owen had another chest infection, so i put him on his antibiotics and so for Christmas he was a little perkier, owen had a wonderful Christmas, this year we stayed at my dad's on Christmas eve so we spent some of Christmas morning together like we usually do, then we go off to my mum's and spend the day with my mum, little sister and her husband, then back to my dad's to spend Christmas eve with my dad and his girlfriend. the day's that follow include lot's of family parties, of food, and games.
i absolutely love Christmas time, all snuggle and family oriented, i love seeing Owen with a smile on his face and he certainly did this year and Santa brought Owen lots of present's for being such a good and brave boy this past year, of course with so much going on it does tire Owen out and he had a few early night's.
This year has certainly had it's up's and down's, but i am so thankful for what i do have and that's Owen and my family and friend's, i couldn't ask for anymore and that they all be happy x
Below a little picture that my little sister drew, love it to pieces x
